Welcome to the Whittlesea Women's Shed, a vibrant and inclusive community of women passionate about woodworking and DIY

We are a group of Women, self taught, in the fundamentals of woodworking.

Operating out of the local Men’s Shed, we come together to create a variety of projects using both new and reclaimed timbers.

Join us to learn and develop your skills, unleash your creativity, and become part of a supportive community of woodworking enthusiasts.

What We Offer

At the Whittlesea Women’s Shed, we provide a welcoming and inclusive space for women of all skill levels to explore and enjoy woodworking.

We believe in the power of community. Participation in our activities not only fosters lifelong friendships but also enhances health and well-being. Our supportive environment empowers women, building confidence and encouraging active involvement in the wider community.

We’re committed to keeping our community vibrant and dynamic. We’re planning to introduce new skills like welding and explore other creative interests that our members are excited to share or learn. Together, we can continue to expand our horizons, build new skills, and inspire each other along the way.

Open Workshop Time:

Members: Wednesday's 10am to 2pm Visitors: Wednesdays 10am to 11am. Machinery: Only open to inducted members during these times.

Workshop Safety

Learn essential safety practices to ensure a safe and enjoyable woodworking experience. An understanding of how to properly use and care for both hand tools and power tools.

Project Planning and Design

Learn how to design and plan your woodworking projects, from sketches to material lists to choosing the right type of wood for your projects.

basic Joinery and Finishing Techniques

Discover fundamental joinery methods, from glue techniques to complex joints such as dovetail, and biscuit joints. Explore various finishing techniques to give your projects a professional and polished look.

Reclaimed Wood Projects:

Get creative with reclaimed timbers, transforming old wood into beautiful, new pieces.
